6.0 Template Message
What is a Template Message?
A Template Message is a pre-approved message format required for WhatsApp Business communication. These are typically used for:
Marketing broadcasts
Notifications
Customer engagement messages
In order to run a WhatsApp broadcast campaign through the Digital Marketing Module, it is mandatory to use approved WhatsApp Message Templates. These templates must first be created and submitted for approval via Facebook Business Manager before they can be used in our system.
WhatsApp requires all broadcast messages to use an approved template to maintain quality and ensure compliance with platform policies.
6.1 Current Workflow for Template Creation
At present, the message templates must be created and approved externally on Facebook Business Manager, specifically under your verified WhatsApp Business Account.
Steps:
Log in to Facebook Business Manager using the designated business account (e.g.,
hr@bigledger.com
).Navigate to the WhatsApp section under the account settings.
Activate your WhatsApp number if not already been done.
Go to the Message Templates section.
Click Create Template and fill in the necessary fields:
Message type (e.g., marketing, transactional)
Language
Message content with variables if required (e.g., user name, date)
Submit the template for Facebook approval.
Approval by Facebook usually takes 2–3 working days, but can sometimes be faster. Facebook reviews the message content for compliance with their policies and quality standards.
Once a template is approved, it becomes eligible for use in campaigns within the system.
6.2 Using Approved Templates in the System
After receiving approval from Facebook:
Go to the Template Message menu in the system.
Add the approved template message to the platform so it can be linked to WhatsApp campaigns or even reused in UCC (Unified Contact Center).
Ensure that the approved template is selected when configuring a WhatsApp campaign.
Currently, templates must be created on Facebook Business Manager. However, in the future, templates will be created directly within UCC, and the API will automatically handle submission to Facebook for approval.
6.3 Prerequisites for WhatsApp Broadcast Campaign
Before launching a WhatsApp campaign, ensure the following:
Your WhatsApp number is activated in Facebook Business Manager.
You have at least one approved message template added in the system.
Segments (target audiences) are created and uploaded.
Campaign details and scheduling are configured properly.
Only after fulfilling all the above steps can you launch the WhatsApp campaign.
