Login Steps

  1. Login to AWS Quicksight with your Author or Reader credentials.

  2. Kindly ensure that you are login to the right Quicksight Account

3. You should be able to view this screen:

Dataset

Edit Dataset

  1. Click on any of the Dataset > Edit dataset



2. You can opt to exclude some fields in the left hand side menu

3. Click on the three dots button at any field, choose exclude field



4. You can apply filter to this Dataset by clicking on the Filter > Add filter



5. Search for value field and fill in the information

In this example, filter to include Sales and Sales Return Transactions is applied



6. Your dataset query will be updated and results can be seen in the below result.

Upload New Data File

  1. Click on the ‘Add Data’ 



2. Choose Upload a File and attach the desired file from your browser.


3. When new file is uploaded, you will need to configure the join type to map with current query header.


In this example, mapping is done through Left Join type for branch code field. 

  • This means, the system will take all data/txns when branch_code in Sales Query and Branch Code in Sheet1 are matched. 

  • And leave data from right data (Sheet1) that is not matched to the query.

Schedule for Data Refresh 

  1. Click on the Edit Dataset button and choose Schedule a refresh.


2. Click Create and determine the options of choice. 

Share Dataset

  1. Please contact Bigledger support. Extra charges may be imposed. 

Analyses

Add New Visual

  1. Make sure the correct dataset is selected.


2. There will be a list of fields / columns that you can choose.

 

3. In order for you to create the next data visualization, please click the add button on the top left and select ‘Add Visual’.



4. Please select one of the Visual Types for your data visualization. An empty box should appear at the right layer.



5. Once selected, please drag the components that are needed for your visualization. In this example, we have selected a vertical stacked bar chart and dragged the following fields to the ‘Field Wells’:

  • X-axis: Salesman

  • Value : Invoice Item Total Amount (Sum)

  • Group / Colour : BranchCode

The objective of this visualization is to identify which Salesman has the best sales performance for the day separated by branch sales. 

6. By default, AWS Quicksight automatically saves your document every minute in case something happens to the computer while working on an analysis.


7. Alternatively, you can change the format of each field chosen according to your preference and visualisation objective.
